The Longs Panel

Performed with both care and curiosity, the Longs panel offers sustained tones that evolve over time:

  • Longs – The classic, rich tone of a traditional clarinet.

  • Electric – A stylised, amped-up variation with added edge.

  • Swells – Gradual undulations that grow and recede.

  • Pulses – Rhythmic, steady throbs that maintain motion.

  • Flutters – Airy flutter tongues appearing unpredictably.

  • Bends – Longs interspersed with pitch bends and warps.

 

The Scapes Panel

The more abstract sibling to Longs, the Scapes panel is where things get unhinged:

  • Swells – Atmospheric expansions as before, but looser and more cinematic.

  • Flutter – More unpredictable, glitchy variants of the Longs version.

  • Breath – The human side of the instrument: exhaled, fragile, intimate.

  • Reverses – Reversed phrases warped into ambient memory.

  • Pulses – A deeper dive into tempo-defiant rhythm.

  • Processed – Gently distorted takes on the Longs.

  • Electric – A noisier, more fractured energy.

  • Chaos – A curated mess of experimental phrasing and spontaneous energy.

Creative Controls

Both panels feature our signature Shape engine, giving you hands-on control to sculpt the sound in seconds:

  • Colour – Add tape saturation and rotary-style effects

  • Width – Dial in stereo image

  • Intensity – Push into hotter saturation

  • Attack & Release – Shape the envelope

  • Delay & Time – Sync and spread your echoes

  • Reverb – Space out your sound

Snapshots

Comes loaded with 20 curated snapshots, ranging from soft, breathy textures to total tonal chaos. Designed for composers, sound designers, and those hunting for the in-between spaces.

 

Requirements

  • Full version of Kontakt 6.8.0 or above is required
    (Will not work with the free Kontakt Player)

  • Mac or PC

  • 1.5GB disk space required

Installing Snapshots

To install the included snapshots:

  1. Copy the “Splintered Clarinet” folder found inside the Snapshots folder of your download.

  2. Navigate to your User Snapshots folder, usually found here:

    • Mac: Users/YourName/Documents/Native Instruments/User Content/Kontakt/

    • Windows: Documents/Native Instruments/User Content/Kontakt/

  3. Paste the “Splintered Clarinet” folder inside.

  4. Restart Kontakt if it’s already open, and your snapshots will now appear in the snapshot menu.
