Library Briefs FAQs

How are the library briefs and client searches different?

  • Client searches are for immediate needs based on specific client requests.

  • Library briefs are crafted to build an exclusive library that anticipates market demand.

What happens if my track wins?

  • We’ll request any necessary revisions, and upon approval, you’ll provide final audio assets (stems, 30-second versions). You’ll sign over the master and publisher's share to Occult Sync.

What happens if my track loses?

  • You retain all rights unless we discuss representing it exclusively.

Are there any delivery requirements?

  • Submit .wav files at 24-bit, 48kHz. Please do not register your track with your PRO or upload it elsewhere. Occult Sync will handle all administration.

What’s the policy on loops and samples?

  • Avoid using loops from shared communities like Splice. If loops or samples are used, make sure they are unrecognizable to prevent royalty issues.

When will I know if my track makes it onto the album?

  • We typically notify composers within a week of the submission deadline.

How will I get paid?

  • Payment comes through your PRO for any track placements, as we don’t offer sync splits for library music.

What’s in it for me?

  • Your music will be submitted to our partners worldwide. You retain 100% of the writer's performance royalties, which can be substantial depending on placements.

Client Searches FAQs

How will I receive briefs?

  • Once on our roster, you’ll receive briefs via email as opportunities arise.

Can I send in anything?

  • You can submit anything that you own 100%, but do not register it with your PRO or upload it elsewhere. We’ll handle the publishing admin.

What if my track wins?

  • You’ll be paid a win fee (ranging from £500 to £5,000) in exchange for the master and publisher's share. We’ll request stems and final deliverables.

What if my track loses?

  • You retain all rights unless we request to represent the track exclusively.

When do I know if I won?

  • We’ll notify you if your track has been selected. Timing may vary depending on client feedback.

What if I don't hear anything about my track?

  • If you don’t hear back, you can assume your track wasn’t selected, and you retain all rights.

The Long Game

Occult Sync sets itself apart with a continuous flow of film projects needing soundtracks nearly every week. Many of these films come with distribution deals already in place with platforms like Paramount+, Netflix, Tubi, and Amazon. This is an incredible opportunity for composers to have their music featured in projects with guaranteed exposure.

While sync is a long game and royalty payments take time, we provide curated briefs, honest feedback, and real placement opportunities that can help grow your career.
