SPLINTERED Redux Bundle

£105.00

Organic | Rebuilt | Unleashed

SPLINTERED Redux — Three Instruments. Reborn as One.

The clarinet, the cello, the soundboard — the trio that defined the SPLINTERED sound, now completely rebuilt from the ground up as standalone instruments. Same broken beauty. Same organic source recordings. Now with a modern interface, a full granular engine, and zero dependency on Kontakt.

No Kontakt. No Player. No compromise.

£105 £65 — Launch price

The original SPLINTERED trio was never meant to sound clean. Clarinet, cello, and a gutted piano soundboard — three instruments captured, then dragged through distortion, breath, bow noise and decay until something stranger climbed out the other side.

SPLINTERED Redux keeps every ounce of that character intact, and rebuilds the engine underneath it. Same organic, hand-mangled source material you already know — now running standalone, with a granular core that lets you tear the sound apart in ways the original library never could.

What’s Actually Changed

This isn’t a reskin. It’s a rebuild.

  • Standalone, not sample-player-locked. All three instruments have been re-engineered as independent VST/AU plugins — no full Kontakt license required, no Player restrictions. Load them anywhere, run them anywhere.
  • Interface, redesigned. A cleaner, faster GUI built for how composers actually work under deadline — less digging through menus, more hands-on sculpting.
  • Granular engine, added. The exact same granular engine that powers Splintered Violin now drives the whole Redux line — identical controls, identical workflow. What changes is the raw material: each instrument’s own recordings — clarinet breath and flutter, cello bow and body, soundboard strikes and scrapes — have been fed into that engine, so the same grain-shaping tools produce a completely different creature depending on which instrument you’re in.
  • The organic core, untouched. Every breath, bow scrape, bridge tap and piano string strike from the original sessions is still in there. This is an evolution of the sound design, not a replacement of it.

Inside the Granular Engine

One engine. Three completely different source libraries.

Rather than build a separate granular system for each instrument, Redux runs clarinet, cello and soundboard through the same core — the one composers already know from Splintered Violin. Grain size, density, spray, position and pitch all behave exactly as you’d expect if you’ve used it before.

What makes each instrument distinct isn’t the engine — it’s what you’re feeding it. Scrub through a clarinet breath take and you get something airy and unstable. Scrub through a cello bridge recording and you get scratch, metal, tension. Scrub through the soundboard’s struck strings and you get resonance that never quite settles. Same tool, three completely different personalities to pull apart.

Meet the Trio

SPLINTERED Clarinet — Breath, Buzz, Grain and Grit

A modern, cinematic reimagining of the clarinet — sustained longs and abstract scapes built from flutter tongues, pitch bends, reversed phrases and processed breath. Redux adds granular control over every texture, letting you stretch a single held note into a slow-moving drone or a flickering, unstable pad.

SPLINTERED Cello — Wounded. Wooden. Wild.

Bowed bridges, tailpiece scrapes, harmonics, pizzicato and full-body hits, alongside cinematic FX built from raw cello gestures. Redux’s granular engine turns the cello’s already-unstable long tones into something closer to sound design than performance — glacial, grainy, and constantly shifting.

SPLINTERED Soundboard — A Sound Reborn for Cinematic Tension

Built from the resonant remains of a gutted upright piano — struck, scraped and plucked with screws, plectrums, drumsticks and bare fingers. Horror and thriller composers already lean on this one for jumpscares and dread; granular processing now opens up its scapes and drones into fully evolving, screen-ready atmospheres.

Why the Bundle?

Buy the three instruments individually and you’re paying for three separate engines. Buy Redux, and you get one consistent granular workflow across strings, winds and struck resonance — three very different sound sources, one unified way of pulling them apart.

  • Three fully standalone instruments, one interface language
  • Full granular control across the entire trio — not just presets, but real parameter access
  • 60+ combined snapshots to start from, endless ground to make your own
  • Built for composers scoring crime, thriller and horror who need texture that doesn’t sound like everyone else’s texture

Requirements

Delivered as standalone VST3 and AU plugins — no Kontakt required to run them.

The original Kontakt instruments are also included in the bundle for anyone who wants them, but these require the full retail version of Kontakt 6.1.8 or later. Not for Kontakt Player.
