The source material behind DESOLATE was never intended to remain intact.
Processed recordings, degraded acoustic sources, fractured tonal material, drones, and low-frequency textures were subjected to saturation, reversal, stretching, and reconstruction until performance disappeared and only mass remained.
The focus is not melody or expression.
It is density.
Textures that grind against one another. Harmonics that refuse to settle. Layers that accumulate tension rather than release it.
The result is a library of sounds designed to occupy space with authority — from restrained atmospheric pressure to overwhelming walls of evolving texture.
The Impact Engine
At the centre of DESOLATE is its XY performance environment.
Four independent samplers exist simultaneously within a continuous blending space, allowing textures to merge, conflict, and transform as you move through the pad. Rather than switching between sounds, you navigate through evolving relationships between them.
Every movement alters the balance of tension, weight, and harmonic instability, making performance feel less like triggering samples and more like manipulating a living mass of sound.

Controlled instability
DESOLATE includes a dedicated motion system designed to animate the XY environment automatically.
Adjustable speed and intensity controls introduce constant movement beneath the surface, allowing textures to evolve without requiring extensive automation. Subtle settings create slow internal shifts, while wider movement generates increasingly unstable interactions between layers.
The result is sound that remains active and unpredictable while retaining complete musical control.
Four samplers, full control
Each sampler operates independently, giving you direct control over every layer within the instrument.
Adjust playback ranges, reverse samples, shape dynamics with dedicated envelopes, and sculpt individual layers using filtering, saturation, gain, and pan controls. Every sound can stand alone, but DESOLATE reveals its true character when layers are pushed together and allowed to interact.
Effects built for aftermath
DESOLATE includes a carefully focused effects section designed to reinforce space, decay, and residual tension.
A convolution reverb extends sounds into vast, lingering environments, while the tempo-syncable delay introduces repetition, persistence, and slow accumulation. Together they enhance the instrument’s sense of weight without distracting from the source material itself.
